A Taste Of Fayetteville
There are plenty of options for eating and dining around Fayetteville. It’s a small town, with friendly people and great atmosphere. Fayetteville was recently voted one of America’s Coolest Small Towns by Budget Travel Magazine. It had a lot to do with the food.
See You In The Morning
Fayetteville has a number of breakfast options, but to get a feel for what’s going on you’ll have to head to the Cathedral Café. The Café is the best place on the gorge for coffee, frittattas, and news.
Just down the street is a quick, down home breakfast stop: Tudor’s Biscuit World. A West Virginia tradition, Tudor’s has taken the breakfast sandwich and made it an artform.
Afternoon Eats
Cowboy’s Restaurant is right across from the historic courthouse, and that’s where you’ll find a lot of the legal community grabbing a quick bite. Gumbo’s, next to the art gallery, is the best authentic cajun food you’ll find outside of the bayou.
Dining On The Gorge
There are plenty of places around town for an nice meal. Here are a few standouts: The Sedona Grille, on the far end of town, has a varied menu with lots of fresh choices (along with the areas best wine list). Pies and Pints has almost as many gourmet pizza combinations as they do specialty beers.
Just on the other side of the New River Gorge Bridge is Class VI River Runners outstanding open air buffet, Smokey’s on the Gorge. And closer to town is the perennial river rat’s favorite, Dirty Ernie’s Rib Pit (don’t let the name fool you- it’s good!)
